Critical roles of molybdate anions in enhancing capacitive and oxygen evolution behaviors of LDH@PANI nanohybrids

Low-overpotential layered hydroxides (LDHs) with high theoretical capacity are promising electrodes for supercapaterry and oxygen evolution reaction; however, the low electronic conductivity insufficient active sites of bulk LDHs increase internal resistance reduce oxygen-production efficiency electrodes. Herein, we prepared a polyaniline-coated NiCo-layered double hydroxide intercalated MoO42? (M-LDH@PANI) composite electrode using two-step method. As amount in LDH increases, acicular microspheres steadily evolve into flaky surface area, providing more electrochemical sites. Moreover, amorphous PANI coating M-LDH boosts electrode. Accordingly, M-LDH@PANI at an appropriate level exhibits significantly enhanced energy storage catalytic performance. Experimental analyses calculations reveal that small is conducive to expansion interlayer spacing, while excessive combines H atoms LDH, thus competing OH?, resulting reduced can efficiently modulate deprotonation energy, greatly accelerating redox reactions. This study provides explanation unconventional mechanism, method modification LDH-based materials anion intercalation.
